Losing Lila
by Sarah Alderson
Publisher: Simon and Schuster Australia
Release Date: August 2nd 2012
Format: Paperback

Alex and Lila are on the run, desperately trying to stay one step ahead of the Unit, which is somehow tracking their every move. While Alex is determined to keep Lila safe and her ability secret at any cost, Lila's only thought is of finding a way back to California so she can rescue her brother and mother from the military base where they're being held. Struggling to control both her growing power and her deepening feelings for Alex, Lila decides the time has finally come to stop running and start fighting. Together with Alex, Demos, and the others she's come to think of as family, Lila plans not only to save her brother and mum, but also to completely destroy the Unit and everything it stands for. But the plan requires Lila to return to California alone, and to make friends with the enemy - and in doing so, she risks losing everything: Alex, her family… even her life.

Welll…our most beloved heroine, Lila is back with another action-packed adventure with her incredibly awesome Psy friends and the totally swoon-worthy, twelve-pack owner who can instantly make any girl melt with a simple glance, Alex. Uh-huh. I think I seriously died a little when I read this book- those scenes involving Alex…were just…lust-worthy. Imagining some very naughty scenes involving him and youself Lila was inevitable. I mean, it’s completely impossible for a girl to control her raging hormones when Alex is involved…and when there’s a scene involving Alex going SKINNY-DIPPING? Oh Good Lord, I DEFINITELY died during that scene.

So Alex aside (I think I’ve rambled on enough about him), the plotline was as exciting as ever! There was so much action, humour, and some mind-boggling revelations being revealed throughout the book- it was literally unputdownable! Something was happening in every chapter, on every page; and it was just impossible to set it aside for dinner or sleep. There was that certain pull, that made you almost desperate to find out exactly what would happen- because, quite truthully, some parts were just impossible to guess!

As for Lila, I absolutely loved her character in the first book, and here, she’s as amazing as ever! The only problem I had with her was some impulsive decisions she made and while it may have worked out well, I still wish she’d consulted someone else before recklessly deciding to do things by herself. And Jack! The guy is as protective as ever…even when he’s unconscious! Like I mentioned in my Hunting Lila review, if I had a brother, I want him to be just like Jack J  The secondary characters were all as fun and amusing as ever as well, especially Suki and Nate. Their idolisaton of Alex and bubbly personalities made sure there wasn’t one dull moment when they were around. Everything they do instantly puts a smile on my face J

Losing Lila is a sequel that did not disappoint – I was completely hooked from start to finish. How Sarah Alderson manages to catch me off guard every 2 chapters, I honestly don’t know. If you loved Hunting Lila, you’ll be sure to LOVE this! Definitely a favourite of mine this year!

  5. I stopped reading your review at the words "skinny dipping" because my mind completely blanked and all I could focus on was the thought of a naked, wet Alex. Whuh. Please hold while I get myself together...
