In My Mailbox #8

9 Oct 2011

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, which allows bloggers to share what books they've borrowed, received in the mail or bought in the past week.

I'm finally back from my holiday in China! *sigh* school starts on Monday, so I probably won't be able to read as often :( But on a happier note, while I was gone, several packages arrived! I still have to make a trip to the post office to collect 3 packages - I don't understand why the postman wouldn't leave it on my doorstep; I always receive these cards telling me to go pick up my parcel after a certain time. Ahh well, at least the ones stuffed in my mailbox arrived safe and sound :)

For Review:
Between by Jessica Warman (Thanks to Hardie Grant Egmont!)
The cover reminds me of this really frightening ghost story my friend once told me! But at least the actual book wasn't scary! My review will be up soon :)
Oriana's Eyes by Celeste Simone (Thanks Celeste Simone!)
Devoted by Hilary Duff, Elise Allen (Thanks Simon & Schuster!)
I haven't read the first book Elixir, but maybe it's time to start it? Who knows, maybe I'll end up liking it! Any advice?
Nocturne by Christine Johnson (Thanks Simon & Schuster)
Again, I haven't read the first book, Claire-de-lune but I'm definitely going to read it soon! It does sound very interesting...only because I'm starting to really like werewolves now :)
Shadows on the Moon by Zoe Marriott
The fact that the story is set in Japan is enough to make me want to read it! And a Cinderella storyline? I feel like I'm definitely going to like this!

Bought:
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Thanks to my purse! I had initially set out to only buy Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but then while I was browsing the book shelves, I saw Lola sitting all alone on the book shelf. I could not help myself; I knew I just had to buy it! Luckily I brought enough money :) hahaa
Seriously, is there anyone out there who's read the book, but didn't like it? I don't think I've even read a 4/5 star review; everyone's praising it like it's the most wonderful book ever written. Well, thanks everyone's recommendations, I've finally bought myself a copy, and I can't wait to start reading it! I'm even more excited to read this than Lola! Can you believe that?!?!

Won:
I bought this myself not long ago, and I finished reading it on the plane last night. Thanks to this, I haven't slept for over 24 hours, since I had so much coffee just so I could stay up. My review will be coming up soon. I'll be adding this to my to-swap list.
The Watchman of Ephraim by Gerard de Marigny (Thanks to Melissa@Spellbound by Books)
Okayy, I don't know anything about this; I confess, I only entered because it was easy :S.

So, what did you get in your mailbox? Leave a link, and I'll check it out!

I read Devoted last week. I enjoyed Elixir more, but that's just because Clea became a bit too whiny for my taste. Plot wise, I liked it. I hope you enjoy the series though. I haven't read Daughter of Smoke and Bone yet, but I did pick up a copy last week after all the praise. Great mailbox :)
