Top Ten Tuesday - Books I hope Santa will bring! *pleads with puppy eyes*

20 Dec 2011

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish!

Signed paperback of Clockwork Prince to match my copy of Clockwork Angel (since it's also signed :D)

Hallowed by Cyn
thia Hand - sooo...I might not have liked Unearthly, but the cover is GORGEOUS! I definitely have to own a copy to gaze lovingly at the cover all day <3 [let's hope there'll be a hugeee discount after Christmas!]

Hardcover of Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater - I LOVE the hardcover! AND everyone's been raving about it, so I definitely have to read it soon :D

PANDEMONIUM by Lauren Oliver! - I just finished Delirium, and am currently in a state of depression! I.NEED.THIS.NOW. I'll die if I have to wait another 4 months!!

Anna dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake - ooohhh HORROR! I haven't read a horror book in AGES. [Not that I'm complaining since I seriously cannot stomach scary stories!] But, I'd still like to read it :)

um...the VA series by Richelle Mead? In hardcover too? PRETTY PLEASE <3 I've read the entire series, and LOVED IT. Now, I just need to collect the first 5 books!

Divergent by Veronica Roth - I absolutely adore this one! Definitely one of my 2011 favourites! Now I just need my own copy!

Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder- this one's been out in Australia for a week already... (I think). I saw it the other day, but managed to control myself, so I didn't buy it.

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout - Seriously, is there anyone on this planet who's read this book, and doesn't like it? I'll definitely have to get to this soon!

Cinder by Marissa Meyer - The finished copy only just recently arrived at Penguin AU. headquarters :) [yes, I'm a stalker] So, if Santa could pretty please break into Penguin's office and steal this for me...?

What about you? Any books you hope Santa will bring for Christmas? :D

Top Ten Tuesday - TBR list for Winter (SUMMER!)

29 Nov 2011

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish!

This week's topic: TBR List for Winter (or Summer here in Australia!)

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi!
I have this one sitting on my shelf right now! Apparently it's AMAZING, so I'm definitely going to read this one soon!

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
So um...who ISN'T looking forward to this? I can't wait till December 6th! I NEED MORE WILL/JEM.

Fated by Sarah Alderson
So looking forward to this one! I LOVED Sarah's HUNTING LILA which was released earlier this year! FANTASTIC book! This one will be out Jan/Feb!

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
A retelling of Cinderella? DEFINITELY ON MY TBR shelf! I love retellings, especially CINDERELLA AND it's set in BEIJING. I.WANT.THIS.NOW.

The Gathering Storm by Robin Bridges
This seems like the perfect novel for winter ehh? I love historical fiction, and I only just studied Russia a few months ago in Modern History, so it'll be interesting to read a historical YA set in Russia!

The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe
DYSTOPIAN!!! (How exciting!!) I'll be reading this closer to Jan! Sounds like an awesome book!

Article 5 by Kristen Simmons
SO looking forward to its release on Valentines Day!

Fallen in Love by Lauren Kate
First off, how gorgeous is the cover?!?! I didn't know about this until the cover was revealed, and based on the cover alone, I'm definitely going to read this! It's basically a series of love stories featuring the characters of Fallen..i,e, Daniel & Luce, Arianne, Roland..

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
This sounds like such a heart-warming story!

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
WITCHES!!! I need to read more stories featuring witches! Oh, and I love the cover too!

Top Ten Tuesday - Unread Books on Shirley's Shelf!

15 Nov 2011

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish!
This is my first time participating; it sounds like a lot of fun!

This week's topic: Top Ten Books That Have Been On My Shelf For The Longest But I've Never Read

Anne of green gables by L.M Montgomery
So, I remember buying this many years ago from BORDERS (gosh, I miss it so much!) since it was only $5. But I never read it; it’s been sitting on my shelf and collecting dust :S I guess I felt like reading like back when I bought it but then lost interest.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I bought this with those primary school Scholastic book packs (for only $2!). I read the first few pages and gave up! But I was young back and I couldn’t be bothered reading it (the language was so hard to understand!); even now, I still can’t finish Austen’s books. I nearly died reading Emma for school at the start of this year!

Eragon by Christopher Paolini
I bought this with a book voucher I received from school as part of an award I guess. Never got around to finishing it though. I remember how back then it had like the Twilight fame, but unfortunately, I couldn’t get past the first few chapters.

Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke
The third in the Inkheart series. (translated from GERMAN) I loved this back when I was in primary school! I was so excited when the third & last book came out, and immediately bought the hardcover. Too bad, I forgot what happened at the end of the second book and couldn’t be bothered re-reading it, so this has been sitting on my bookshelf untouched and unread.

Forever by Maggie Stiefvator
I won an ARC of this a while ago; but I haven’t read Shiver and Linger yet. Don’t know if I want to though. I know for a fact that Maggie is an amazing writer, but somehow the premise of Shiver  sounds too clichéd & I think of Twilight for some reason…

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien
Haha, am I the only one in the world who hasn’t read this? My dad bought me the version where all three books were combined in one book, and it’s like 1000+ pages thick! I just can’t get through it….

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Yes, I seem to have a problem with classic books. There’s nothing wrong with them, but I just find modern YA more interesting & easier to read. But, I’ll read this one day. Definitely.

Chasers by James Phelan
Hmmm…I was surprised this turned up on my doorstep. Too bad, I haven’t had the chance to read it, and apparently the third book is out already? Might have to read this one day…but only after I finish all my other books!

Pig Boy by J.C Burke
Another book that I just can’t dedicate any time to…it’s another TBR book but only after I’ve finished all the ones I WANT to read, and have absolutely nothing else to read.

Atonement by Ian McEwan
Err…I really should read this sometime! Unfortuantely, I couldn’t be bothered to finish this after reading the first 3? chapters…but I WILL finish this ONE DAY. Sometime in the near future hopefully…
